James Mallinson was the older brother of George Mallinson and like him played football with the Rechabites club in the Granville district competition. Born in Granville, James Mallinson was an engineer at the Clyde Engineering Works when war broke out. He served with 7 Battalion in France and was killed in action on 4 October 1917.
