Born in Glebe, in 1895, but growing up in Granville, Pte David Hamilton, is another of the Granville Rechabites who joined the fight in 1915. Posted to C Company of the 36th Battalion AIF, Hamilton sailed from Australia alongside teammate George Harmer and was one of the lucky ones to return at the end of the war.

Pte Hamilton was wounded twice in France during 2017 and represented the 36th in matches during the war playing up front against the legendary Peter Coppock of the 34th Battalion. These may have been the last matches he played as no records have been found of his playing upon his return.

Pte Hamilton’s brother was awarded the Military Medal.
