Soon after arriving in Western Australia in 1912, school teacher ‘Len’ Parvin turned out for Austral as their goalkeeper for two seasons. In 1914 he moved to Training College and played for the ‘teachers’ team for two seasons until he enlisted. He was one of the best keepers in the state and represented the ‘England’ expat team.
He survived the war, spending much of his time in the Postal Corps in England, finding his way to the Western Front towards the end of the war. Corporal Parvin also played soccer for the 16th Battalion and was involved in the organisation of a Divisional competition in late 1918.
He married Edith Bell in Norfolk in January 1919 and lived in Engand until his death in 1976 at the age of 86.
