On 11 September 1915 The West Australian reported that ‘J. Scott’ of the Claremont club had played his last game after falling at Gallipoli.

Sergeant James Scott had been a regular for the Claremont club in the years leading up to the war. He was killed in action at Walkers Ridge, Gallipoli, on 7 August 1915. He was only 23 years of age.
