Jack Roydhouse was born on 24 September 1892 in South Australia. A stand out player for the College number 1 team, he once scored four goals in a game. Leiutenant Roydhouse was promoted to Captain in the fireld in France before being awarded a Military Cross for “conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He displayed great courage and determination organizing and carrying out bombing attacks setting a splendid example to his men. His work helped materially to hold our positions.” Subsequently he was wounded with shell shock and withdrawn from combat duties. After the war he seems lost to soccer, though his father, J.C. Roydhouse, Mayor of Subiaco sat on the committee at the Subiaco club. Jack Roydhouse died on 18 July 1986 in Geelong, Victoria, at the age of 93.
