Jack Frappell

According to family biography, “Private Jack Frappell of 16th Battalion was born in Waverley, New South Wales, on 28 August 1894 to Richard and Marie Frappell. His father died when he was four. Jack came to Western Australia with his older brother Arthur and attended Claremont state school, then Claremont Technical School and studied metallurgy. He served two and half years with 86 Infantry Battalion senior cadets. He found work in Meekatharra as a cyanide hand, in the mining industry.” He also represented the Claremont club as a soccer player from 1910 as a 15 year old to 1912, before moving to Meekatharra in 1913 for work. Private Frappell was 20 years of age when he was killed in action in Gallipoli on 28 April 1915
