On 14 July 1923 Howard Eyles appeared in an Honor Roll published in The Western Chronicle for the Claremont Soccer Club. Apparently a supporter or official at the club because his name is absent in playing lists, he was an accountant by trade. After landing at Gallipoli in August 1915 he rose through the ranks during the war and by 1918 was employed as Paymaster of the 1st Australian Division. After the war he moved to Brazil to work for the Mappin department store. Howard Eyles married Frances Standen in Rio De Janeiro in 1940. Before his death in 1958 at the age of 67, he had moved back to Perth.
