Shortly after arriving from Gateshead, England, George Warrener made appearances for Claremont in 1912 and continued to do so until he enlisted. He was employed as a shipping clerk and at the start of the war enlisted in the Field Ambulance. On 27 August 1915 he was wounded in Gallipoli with a bullet wound to the leg and evacuated to England, where he was photographed with his two brothers who served in the British Army. At the end of May 1916 he was sent to the Western Front and by August had rejoined the 4th Field Ambulance. On 8 June 1917 Private Warrener was killed in action in a field in Belgium. He was 25 years of age.
