On 14 July 1923 Donald Forrest appeared in an Honor Roll published in The Western Chronicle for the Claremont Soccer Club. He had attended Scotch College in Claremont and played for the school and, as he cannot be found on senior playing lists, it seems he was a junior player at Claremont before becoming a station overseer. Four months after he enlisted Lance Corporal Forrest passed away at the age of 22. According to his records he contracted pneumonia following exposure while on military duty and died in hospital in Suez, Egypt.
