The Sydney Daily Telegraph reported on 13 July 1915:

WENT TOGETHER AND DIED TOGETHER.

Sergeants David M. Williamson and John Linn went together as friends, and practically died together. Both sergeants were formerly prominent members and workers of Chalmers Presbyterian Church, Sydney, and were active members of, the Presbyterian Fellowship Association, as well as having been prominently associated with the soccer team.

Sergeant Linn came from Scotland a few years, ago, and was 23 years of age. He was one of a loyal household, as he was the fourth of the family to go to the front. One brother, who also enlisted from Chalmers Church, was recently wounded. The other two enlisted from their home in Scotland.

Sergeant Williamson was the third son of Mr. David Williamson, of George Street, Redfern, and was 21 years of age. He was educated at Fort Street school, where he gained distinction, and until just prior to enlisting was on the staff of the A.M.P. Society.
