David Hay Reid was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1886 and arrived in Fremantle in the mid-1900s. The Callies’ inaugural secretary, he served in France with the 2nd Field Ambulance, returning mid-1919. He died on 13 September 1961 in Perth, Western Australia, at the age of 75.
