Bertie Squance arrived in Moora, WA, from Wales with his father when he was 15 years of age. In 1914 he turned out a few times for the Moora team.
He enlisted for the war as soon as he turned 18 in 1916. Private Squance served in France and in March 1918 he was diagnosed with arthritis of the right knee which hastened his returned to Australia before the end of war. In 1920 he married Cassie Bishop in Moora and had two children together.
Bertie Squance died in Perth in 1966 at the age of 67.
