Arthur Hollands was born Melbourne and educated at Fremantle Boys School, where he learned to played soccer. After finishing school he joined the Fremantle club. Not long after, he enlisted in the 11th Battalion in July 1915 and saw action in France. Private Hollands was killed in during the Battle of Pozieres on 25 July 1916. He was only 21 years of age.
