Alfred Leyland arrived in Perth from Lancashire, England, in January 1912. He played for Rangers United before and after the war. Private Leyland enlisted in July 1915 and saw action in France. He returned to Australia after completing his military obligations in 1920, taking up with his old club and played with them until 1924.
He passed away in Perth in 1971 at the age of 80.
