The Adelaide Advertiser reported on 7 June 1917:
THE LATE PRIVATE C. W. MORTON. Private C. W. Morton was the eldest son of Mr. and, Mrs. Morton, of Clarence Park. He was born in Bristol, and arrived in Australia in December, 1911. He enlisted on January 3, 1916, and left on June 9 with the 43rd Battalion. He arrived in France in November, and entered the firing line in December, where he remained until his death on April 23. He was a member of the South Adelaide British Association Football Club.
