On 16 November 1917 South Coast Times reported
Mr. and Mrs. W. Trivett, of Tarrawanna, have been officially informed this week of the death of their son, Pte. William Trivett, killed in action. Pte. W. Trivett was one of the most respected lads in Tarrawanna, where he resided all his life. Tarrawanna Football Club have lost one of their best supporters; the village one of its best citizens. He had been in the firing line for upwards of 12 months, and according to his letters was in the thick of it most of the time until invalided to England with trench feet or trench fever. His manly disposition endeared him to all with whom he came in contact, and the sad news has come as a shock to all his pals.
William Trivett was killed in a field in Belgium on 20 October 1917. He was 27 years of age.
