Archibald Leopold Ginn was born in Adelaide in 1894.

When he enlisted in the AIF in October 1916 he was employed by Thompson & Harvey, glass stainers and leadlighters of Flinders Street. A promising goalkeeper, he debuted for the Cambridge club in 1908 at the young age of fourteen. He switched to Sturt in 1911 and played with them until the end of the 1914 season. Archie Ginn was also a talented cricketer and athlete.

He served with the 27th Battalion in France and was fatally wounded on August 29th 1918, dying two days later. He was 24 years old.
