Known to his club mates as ‘Nib’ Pearce, Samuel Pearce joined the City Rangers soon after arriving in Perth in from London in 1910 and played for them until he enlisted at the end of the 1914 season. He landed at Gallipoli in early May 1915 but was transferred to Lemnos on 19 June 1915 to treat a medical condition. By the end of June he had rejoined his unit at Gallipoli and was killed in action on 1 August 1915. He was 25 years of age.
