On 30 August 1912, the Newcastle Morning Herald reported:

WEST WALLSEND – Mr. P. Slavin, who has held the office of assistant-secretary to the British Football Club for a considerable time, was presented with a gold medal on Saturday. Mr. Slavin for a number of years was engaged in the drapery department of the West Wallsend Co-operative Society, where he will be sadly missed, for he was a good and faithful employee. Mr. Barrett, the president of the club, in making the presentation referred to Mr. Slavin’s good work as secretary, and also as a supporter of his club. He was pleased to know that Mr. Slavin had been successful in qualifyIng for a public school teacher, and that he had obtained a position.

“Paddy” Slavin enlisted in the 34th Battalion and represented his battalion in matches behind the trenches, including a hard fought win 3-2 against “the Jocks” and a 3-1 loss to the 36th Battalion.

Peter Slavin died in 1980. Aged 86.
