HINDMARSH. Died October 8th, in Brook War Hospital, Woolwich, England, from wounds received in action in France, July 20th, 1916, Acting Sergt. Thomas Hindmarsh, beloved third son of J. P. and M. A. Hindmarsh, Corrimal, age 21 years. He nobly answered his country’s call. Inserted by his father, mother, brothers and sisters.

Thomas Hindmarsh was born in Newcastle, Australia in 1895. The family moved to Wollongong following his father, J. P. Hindmarsh’s 1907 appointment as Inspector of Collieries. In 1913, at the age of 18, he played a number of games for the Lilleshall Rangers.

He enlisted in August 1915 and received his fatal injuries at Pozieres nearly one year later, taking over two months to die of his wounds in Woolwich Hospital, England on 8 October 1916. He is buried in Greenwich Cemetery, London.
