Frederick William Allen Earthy was born in July 1888 in Reading, Berkshire. He migrated to Australia in 1911, marrying Lillian Agnes Brown in 1913. They lived in South Yarra and Frederick played in defence for Prahran from 1912 until the war.
His unremarkable military record is truncated by his death at the age of 28 on 8 December 1916 in France between Hondeghem and Hazebrouk, close to Belgium. He was buried in Villers-Bretonneux, Somme, France.
