Peter Yule was born in Kirkcaldy, Scotland, and was a French polisher. He was recorded as playing for both South Adelaide and North Adelaide in 1914, mainly reserves, and was a team mate of the Clarn brothers at North.

He joined the AIF on 10 July 1915 at the age of 31, naming his mother in Kirkcaldy as next of kin. Yule was a small man, 5 foot 6 inches tall and just 62 kgs. Having served with the Territorials of the Royal Garrison Artillery in Scotland, he was allocated to the 3rd Australian Field Artillery.

Arriving in France with the 11th reinforcements to his unit, Peter Yule was killed at Messines on June 23 rd 1917- a battle of tremendous artillery duels and mine explosions.
