Sydney-born Arthur Libbesson played his football with the Balmain Kia-Ora club. An Ironworker, Libbesson enlisted in 1914 aged 21 and served as a signaller in the 4 Battalion.

Libbesson was wounded at Gallipoli during the battle of Lone Pine in August 1915. He was evacuated to hospital in Alexandria where he died of his wounds. He is buried in the Chatby Cemetery in Alexandria.
