Born Korumburra, Victoria and migrated with his parents to the Newcastle region. He played in underage teams for Dudley and Merewether before enlisting in late 1915. At the age of 18 he embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A24 Benalla on 1 May 1916 and was killed in Action in Armentieres, France 14 March 1917.
