Arnold Curtin was a member of the Pyrmont team that won the Junior Championship in 1915, even appearing for the team after enlistment while waiting for his unit to embark.
On 12 August 1916 he was wounded in action with shell shock. He was transferred to England to recover and after being marched in from furlough went absent without leave for four days in early February 1917. He spent three days in custoday awaiting trial and received five days field punishment. His misadventure also saw him out of action with VD for 47 days. Private Curtin was back in England for New Year’s Day in 1918 and allowed himself some more time away (another four days) for which he was held in custody for three day and received three days field punishment. On 24 May 1918 he was wounded again when a grenade accidentally went off during practice injuring his left knee.
Private Curtin returned to Sydney in 1920 and made appearances for the senior team that season before putting away his boots. That same year he married Isabel O’Keefe. Arnold Curtin died in Sydney in 1971 at the age of 77.
