Raymond Bradshaw was born in Eganstown Victoria in about 1892. He became a teacher and worked in Kalgoorlie and Coolgardie from 1909 to enlistment in 1915. He is acknowledged by ‘Unomi’ to have played for Training College.

Private Bradshaw was quickly promoted through the ranks at the Dardanelles. He was further promoted to Captain in France and three weeks’ later was severely wounded in action on 1 June 1916. He received a fractured tibia which eventually resulted in amputation and he was invalided back to Australia in early 1918.

He died “of natural causes” on 27 May 1921 at the age of 29 after having returned to teaching in Coolgardie and being appointed secretary of the State School Teachers’ Union.

His younger brother Francis also played for Training College and served in the AIF.
